Kate Moss dons Givenchy for shoot at The Ritz Paris

The Ritz Paris played host to Kate Moss in Givenchy one last time before closing its doors for renovation. These stunning snaps were taken by favourite fashion photographer Tim Walker who had the pleasure of capturing Kate in Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

The article in US Vogue featured Kate’s own story about the Ritz; “When I was with Johnny Depp, he always stayed there. I had an apartment in Paris at the time, but he said, ‘No, we’re staying at the Ritz,’ so he came by and swept me up to the Ritz – he didn’t want to slum it in my apartment!”

RIS Designers in Top 3

Missed the reactions from Paris Fashion Week?

Well thanks to the extensive online reviews, it’s super easy to narrow it down to who impressed the most. We are pleased to reveal that according to the critics, three of our designers were in the top ten fashion shows at Paris Fashion Week for Autumn Winter 2012.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN
“Even those in the audience who queried the absence of anything approaching clothes for the everyday surrendered to the forward movement of the stunning technique. As for pushing herself, Burton has tapped a vein of absolute magic. Its spell is irresistible.”
–Style

STELLA MCCARTNEY
“It’s going to be a big year for Stella—her involvement with that little thing called the Olympics (she’s the creative director of Adidas’ Team GB collection)—and she’s off to a good start.”
–Vogue UK

CHLOE
“If you have been on the fence about Chloé, it’s time to check it out.
Ms. Waight Keller showed some terrific pieces… “

Joyeux anniversaire Colette

Colette, the cultish multi-brand concept store on rue Saint-Honoré in Paris celebrated its 15th anniversary last weekend with a free carnival open to the public. The Jardin des Tuileries in Paris played host to the event which offered cooking classes, celebrity book signings and food tasting for attendees.

The store is known for thriving outside of the box, and its co-founder Sarah Andelman was intent on raising the bar for the milestone. “I wanted to do something fun for our clients, fans and friends, something like when we were kids,” she explained.

Starting Saturday, in a 43,000-square-foot circus tent in the Tuileries just one block from the boutique, an estimated 20,000 visitors attended a child-friendly indoor carnival. There were activities galore including the opportunity to smooch at Edith A. Miller’s kissing booth, take a few shots at Carhartt’s shooting range, face off on a Nike basketball court or visit more than 50 booths staffed by international fashion and design brands.

But perhaps even more enticing than the prospect of rubbing elbows with local designers and fashion folk was having the city’s finest in fast food and confections all in one place. Among the offerings were burgers from the city’s first food truck, Le Camion Qui Fume cotton candy macaroons from Ladurée and cheesecake revisited from the chocolatier Jean-Paul Hévin. The hip boutique invited a host of brands — from Comme des Garcons and Clarins to Lacoste — to set up stands and everything from T-shirts to timepieces were available for purchase.
Though the Tuileries plays host to Fashion Week and summer carnivals, Colette Carnaval marked the first time a brand has been granted access to the gardens for a public event — a generous nod of support from the city and further evidence of Colette’s clout in the fashion capital.

McQueen and McCartney shine on the runways of Paris

As the fashion capital of the world, Paris Fashion Week is one of the highlight events on a designer’s calendar. This year our favourite designers Alexander McQueen and Stella McCartney made a big impact on the runway.

Sarah Burton gives us a new slant on Alexander McQueen’s futuristic sense, with femininity and optimism for Autumn/Winter 2012.

This season the feathered look was a standout feature, with nudes and browns proving popular. Seductive and feminine, it drew on organic and naturalistic imagery: dandelion heads were delicately embroidered onto evening dresses, while layers of fuchsia tulle were layered to create gowns.

On the flip side, Stella McCartney went for a more sporty look for her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection (rumoured to be inspired by her recent project to design the Olympic uniforms). Bold colours and athletic inspired shapes were injected with a feminine feel.

With a magical touch, McCartney injected a dose of luxe into every piece with lavish slouchy trousers dipped in shocking cobalt and dark pink hues. On the opposite end of the spectrum, McCartney also featured fitted silhouettes via structured skirt suits and dresses. The latter featured silk and wool renditions with a sporty fit-and-flare shape, while evening wear options showed longer silhouettes with intricate embroidery.

With an array of McQueen and Stella McCartney available in store now, come in and get the latest looks yourself.
